Lined with a mix of one-story houses and large stately homes, from prairie style to Mediterranean inspired, Ryan Place boasts wide streets, sidewalks and beautiful trees. The neighborhood is home to the annual Ryan Place Candlelight Tour, inviting the public to walk through homes on Elizabeth Street every December and take in the sights and sounds of the Holiday season while raising funds for Ryan Place projects. The boundaries for Ryan Place are Jessamine Street to the north, the railroad tracks to the east, Berry Street on the South and 8th Avenue on the west.
The first airplanes came to Fort Worth the same year Ryan Place was platted in 1911. One plane landed in developer, John C. Ryan’s pasture. An estimated 10,000 people including famous Fort Worth philanthropist Amon G. Carter, swarmed the field to greet the pilot.
