Local Fort Worth design firm, Beckley Design Studio, is known for its fearless use of color, so we had to know what it considers its go-to hue. While it’s reluctant to play favorites, these days it can’t ignore lavender. Eat your heart out, millennial pink.
“Lavender is such a pretty, feminine and sophisticated color that can really make a statement in a room,” said Kelley Roberts, one part of Beckley Design Studio with partner Rebecca Atkinson. “It can create a soft and calming look or balance out a brighter color scheme.”
What’s the trick? “If you’re using it in a living area or dining room, it’s important to balance it with a bolder color so the room doesn’t look like a nursery.” Roberts says pairing it with royal blue, coral or emerald green makes a bold and unexpected statement. “We even wallpapered a client’s dining room in pale lavender grasscloth, and even though it’s a light color, the room feels so cozy.”
Here, we get you started on lavender and the colors it plays with nicely.
