Texas Slim's BBQ is set to open next door to popular Berry Street bar The Aardvark in one week.
Run by the same owner as The Aardvark, the restaurant will now be opening next week instead of Tuesday as originally planned. With a space of 1,100 square feet, the first draft of the menu at Texas Slim's BBQ shows items such as brisket, spuds and loaded fries. Daily specials include smoked drumsticks, smoked ribeye, and “earth pig.” Brunch will also be served on Sundays.
The space used to be a tattoo shop until The Aardvark purchased it in March. Renovations include the addition of a horseshoe-shaped bar and seven new TVs, separating the sit-down restaurant from the common bar.
“When you walk in the door, you will know it's a restaurant,” general manager Josh Montgomery wrote in an email to Fort Worth Magazine. “You will not have to guess what the place is, especially during the day.”
According to Montgomery, Texas Slim's BBQ owner Danny Weaver “wants it to be a barbecue place with a twist. Something a little different than the barbecue everyone is used to.”
