Fast-casual restaurant concept Chicken Salad Chick is expanding to Texas and has tapped Fort Worth for three new locations. Based in Auburn, AL, the nation’s only southern inspired, fast casual chicken salad restaurant concept will be opening this spring in North Fort Worth at 8825 Tehama Ridge Parkway in the Presidio Towne Crossing Shopping Center.
The concept was started in Auburn, Ala in 2008 in the kitchen of Founder Stacy Brown. The story goes that upon discovering that the local county health department would not allow Brown to continue making and selling her recipes out of her home kitchen, she launched her first restaurant with her husband. Together, they opened a small takeout restaurant that would quickly grow to a company with 49 restaurants across the Southeast.
“Our success in the Southeast has exceeded our expectations, so we are all excited to introduce our concept to a brand new market like Fort Worth." said Brown. "We truly believe Chicken Salad Chick will be well received with guests throughout Texas and hope to continue to build our loyal following in the South.”
Fort Worth's franchise is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team, John and Meggie Schissler, who will be opening two additional locations in the Fort Worth area over the next few years. They say they will set their sights on the second two locations once the first restaurant is up and running. Texas-native Meggie Schissler's first worked in Chicken Salad Chick's corporate office as part of the marketing team.
The restaurant claims to “put an edgy twist on a southern classic”, with 15 original chicken salads (including recipes with jalapenos, cranberrise and pimento cheese), as well as gourmet soups, flavorful side salads and freshly-baked desserts.
