Easy Pie Crust

Yield: 6 single piecrusts

4 cups flour

1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup water
1 egg
1 tablespoon vinegar

Beat together and add to flour and mix.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt. Add butter and shortening and cut in until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together water, egg and vinegar. Add to flour mixture and stir until mixture forms a ball. Dump out onto floured surface and cut into six even pieces. Form each piece into a flat disk and wrap with plastic wrap.
  3. Refrigerate dough at least 20 minutes before rolling out or freeze to use later.
