The long wait is nearly over for residents of Hudson Oaks, as the city will be home to the newest H-E-B grocery store in the Fort Worth area. The location from the San Antonio-based grocer will hold its grand opening there on May 10.

"We have been waiting quite a long time for the grand opening of one of Texas’ premier grocers here in North Texas, and the executives of H-E-B chose us," Hudson Oaks Mayor Marc Povero wrote on the city's blog, adding that negotiations with H-E-B began over seven years ago. "That was a pretty big deal for a small city of 2,500 people with NO municipal property tax!"

Nearby communities of Willow Park and Aledo will also benefit from the store, located on U.S. 180 and Lakeshore Drive. Along with Central Market stores in both Fort Worth and Southlake, Burleson is home to an H-E-B Plus, and Mansfield has been chosen for the first Tarrant County store at U.S. 287 and East Broad Street — expected to open in 2020.

"Let’s not forget that H-E-B is well known for reinvesting into their local communities by participating in the funding of community events and giving generously to local charities that help feed those in need," Povero says. "I would love to see friends, neighbors and local business owners welcome H-E-B into the Hudson Oaks family and remind them that they made the right choice to build this store in East Parker County."
