Come Sunday, audiences will find out whether or not Press Waffle Co. got a bite from one of the Sharks.
Brothers Bryan and Caleb Lewis — owners of the waffle shop with locations at Legacy Hall in Plano, Baybrook Mall (on the way to League City just south of Houston) and the Food Hall at Crockett Row here in Fort Worth — will appear on ABC's “Shark Tank” on Sunday at 8 p.m.
"Our company tagline is ‘a new way to waffle,' and that is exactly what we are trying to teach America,” says founder and president Bryan Lewis. “‘Shark Tank' is an incredible opportunity for national exposure that we feel our brand can capitalize on to get our waffles in as many hands as possible.”
Getting its start as a food truck that opened in 2016, Press Waffle Co. has built a reputation for its crispy Liege-style waffles, crowned with any number of specialty toppings. Sweet varieties include the Southern Belle, topped with lemon curd, fresh blueberries and whipped cream. The waffles come in savory flavors as well, like the Lumberjack with melted cheddar, bacon and maple syrup.
Mum's the word, due to the confidentiality agreement they signed with “Shark Tank,” on whether the brothers hooked any of the Sharks on their product and expansion plans.
"Our average ticket time is just over one minute," Lewis says. "Our next location is a food hall in Oklahoma City, set to open next month, and then our first franchise location in Waco in June. After that, we have at least four more projects lined up for 2019 and are hoping for even more as we find the right franchise partners for our company to grow with.”
Lewis adds that Press Waffle Co. is kicking off a national franchise program, looking for partners who would like to open their own shop.
An official watch party will take place at Plano's Legacy Hall on Sunday. Press Waffle Co. will also appear at the Fort Worth Food and Wine Festival's upcoming Desserts After Dark event on April 5 at Whiskey Ranch.
