After hosting several pop-ups at Division Brewing in Arlington, Hurtado Barbecue Co. is ready to make it official with the brewery, rolling out a food truck that will continue to serve Central Texas-style meats with Mexican flair at the location.
The grand opening is this Saturday. And, if you want to score some, better cue up early. Hours will be every Saturday from 11 a.m. until the truck sells out.
Hurtado Barbecue will roll out a menu every Saturday, featuring beef sourced from 44 Farms, like his beef ribs and prime brisket. There will be pork belly burnt ends and spare ribs as well, along with two styles of house made sausages: one, a smoked poblano with flecks of melting queso fundido, and another made with Division Brewing's FrankenFroth Double IPA in the mix.
"You get a hint of the beer in the sausage, but it's more prominent in our house barbecue sauce — which is a tangy, vinegar-based sauce with a spicy kick from chipotle peppers and more FrankenFroth," pitmaster Brandon Hurtado says.
Something unique on the menu is his smoked quail, and sides will consist of a hatch green chile mac and cheese, smoked elotes, a Serrano lime cole slaw and traditional charro beans.
Hurtado, a University of Texas at Arlington alum, owns a marketing agency nearby (that's his day job) and says the decision to stay in Arlington makes sense, as his family and friends call the city home.
"Barbecue is blowing up in Tarrant County right now," Hurtado says.
