One of the perks of this job is an excuse to scout beautiful, picturesque and unique locations for our fashion shoots. And, the home we landed on for our April style feature, “Spring Awakening,” is all of the above.
Sitting at the end of the iconic Valley Ridge Road in Westover Hills, we found a hacienda-style estate that instantly transported us to Palm Springs. Spanning 9,043 square feet, the home, built in 1934, is reminiscent of a boutique hotel that's equal parts eclectic and elegant. It was exactly what we needed to showcase Spring's hottest fashion trends - odes to Spanish and Victorian styles, colorful patterns and flowing fabrics.
While we planned to shoot most of the looks outside among the property's 2.5 acres, the weather had different plans. So, we moved all of our shots indoors and the home's eclectic décor was happy to oblige. The result of that last-minute change? One of my favorite images of the day was shot in a powder bathroom.

The home's playful personality is thanks to colorful walls, patterned textiles and show-stopping art. The credit for that décor can be paid to its matriarch, who owns an arts management and event production company in Manhattan.
Let's get down to details: Inside the main house, the home boasts four bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms, while a one-bedroom, one-bath guesthouse sits adjacent to the main house with its own private entrance.
For those who love to host parties (or snap photos), the open backyard contains stunning views of the western rolling hills, perfect for a Texas-sized barbecue or a family gathering. In fact, the current owners even got married there. A large pool and hot tub are privately tucked away off the master bedroom. Other perks include a large office, library, workout room, multiple living spaces, a pristinely updated kitchen and sweeping views from almost every room in the home. This one will cost you a pretty penny. 52 Valley Ridge is on the market for $5,250,000 and is listed by Talia Lydick of Williams Trew Real Estate Services.
