WestBend added 12 new pieces of art to its development and plans to celebrate them with an artist meet-and-greet.
New installations include 10 murals by Dallas-based artist Kyle Steed, a “LOVE” sculpture by Laura Kimpton, and a mural by local artist Lauren Childs.
In honor of the works, WestBend will host #WestBendLove Snap & Seek, an event that will feature a polaroid scavenger hunt, free drinks from HG Sply Co., frozen treats and the opportunity to meet all three artists. #WestBendLove will take place July 20 at 7 p.m. Guests should meet on the top floor of the free parking garage behind Tyler's, and the first 50 who check in will receive a free swag bag illustrated by Steed. RSVP here.
Steed's murals include quotes and references to different Texans, while Kimpton's sculpture is part of her Monumental World series, which includes the “LOVE” sculpture at the Apple Store in San Francisco's Union Station. Childs' mural depicts colorful succulents, a work titled “The Little Things.”
The pieces, spread across the property, join the already existing rotating photography exhibit from the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, as well as the murals by Devon Nowlin, which face the Trinity River.
Creating a public art display in the WestBend retail area, located at 1701 River Run near South University Drive, is part of an initiative by developer Trademark Property Co. to create experiences for its guests, according to Trademark CEO Terry Montesi. Montesi said in a statement that he wants WestBend to be an “extension of the world-class Fort Worth Arts District.”
