A Fort Worth native and star of blockbuster films like "Twister" and "Apollo 13" has died.
Bill Paxton died Saturday at 61 due to complications from heart surgery. He appeared in films like "Titanic," where he played underwater treasure hunter Brock Lovett; and "Apollo 13," where he played astronaut Fred Haise.
To pay homage to Paxton's role as storm chaser Bill Harding in "Twister," real-life storm chasers spelled out Paxton's initials with GPS coordinates.

Paxton graduted from Arlington Heights High School and often returned to his home state for film festivals and events. He was the chairman of the advisory board of Fort Worth's inaugural Lone Star International Film Festival in 2007. In a 2006 Star-Telegram article, he recounted his upbringing and praised Fort Worth as a city that supports the arts. He sat down with Fort Worth Magazine in 2015. Read the interview here.
