Multiple stages, flower crowns, VIP areas, noodling, exposed midriffs. And, oh yeah, music. Fortress Festival had everything a good music festival should have. And, unexpectedly good weather to boot. Start time was delayed two hours on Saturday to accommodate the hail that never was. But, when the gates did open, the people showed up. And, perfectly sunny skies on Sunday were ideal for the last day of Fortress Festival. Stages were set up in front of Will Rogers Memorial Center and on top of the reflecting pond at The Modern. The latter made for a super cool viewing and listening experience, while the former accomadated large crowds for the headliners. Fortress Fest will be back next year and the team is already offering early-bird passes at fortressfestival.com. Stay tuned, as fwtx.com will bring you lineup news as it's announced.
More than 9,000 people showed up over the two-day festival. I wanted to see the bands. But REALLY, in total anticipation of how Fort Worth would respond to such an event, I wanted to see the festival goers. So, here, I bring you a little of both.
