Enjoy live music, food trucks and art at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art's Party on the Porch on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. This free event marks the completion of the museum’s facade renovation project that began in February 2015.
Live music will be provided by three local bands, Quaker City Night Hawks, The Unlikely Candidates and Ginny Mac, and will kick off the party at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a wide variety of food trucks available, including Bellatrino, Central Market, Gypsy Scoops, Steel City Pops and Taco Heads. To complement the delicious food, Bar Louie will provide a full satellite bar on site with drinks available for purchase.
The museum gallery hours will be extended to 9 p.m. to allow party-goers a chance to go on a social media scavenger hunt and to enjoy the art in the permanent collection and exhibitions. As an added bonus, a vintage photo booth in a 1966 Volkswagen bus, called The Photo Bus, will also be around. Free parking will be available for all guests at the UNT Health Science Center lot and the east garage on Clifton Street.
The Amon Carter's renovation included updating the glass panels and replacing the revolving front door. The new glass helps with art conservation and gives visitors the ability to enjoy an unobstructed view of downtown, while the new entryway helps make the museum more wheelchair and stroller-friendly.
