With a manicured landscape and views of downtown Fort Worth, the front lawn of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art is one of the city's hidden gems. This Saturday, Party on the Porch returns to showcase one of the best views in the city. The event, beginning at 6 p.m., will offer live music, local food trucks and an opportunity to visit the gallery until 9 p.m. Admission for guests is free, and there will be food trucks — like Luckybee Kitchen, Gepetto's Pizza and Central Market, just to name a few — from which guests can purchase food.
Here's a guide on what to expect:
Where to Go
Entrances will be on Camp Bowie Boulevard and Lancaster Avenue by the front door at 3501 Camp Bowie Blvd.
Where to Park
The museum's parking lot will be closed off for the array of food trucks like Chile Pepper Grill and Crazy Burger arriving at the event. But don't worry — there will still be plenty of free parking available at the UNT Health Science Center lot and the East Garage on Clifton Street. There is also the option to pay to park at Will Rogers Memorial Center off Lancaster Avenue.
What to Do
Music
Party on the Porch will feature live music by hometown artists beginning at 6:30 p.m. Summer Dean will kick off the night with her soulful “AmeriTonk” sound. The Matt Tedder Trio — known for their classic rock, blues, and modern folk style — will follow at 7:30 p.m. Topping off the night will be Green River Ordinance at 8:30 p.m., noted for their sound that blends country, rock, pop, and folk. Public seating will be limited, so bring a lawn chair and a blanket.
Art
The museum gallery will be open a little later that Saturday (from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.), giving guests a chance to view the art, visit with a docent, or participate in art making. Be sure to check out the lighting effects on the building from Inside Image Design.
Other Activities
Party on the Porch will be taking place outside, so guests should dress comfortably. There will be lawn games, and Pan Ector will be screen-printing T-shirts onsite. A VIP area will also be available for museum members, offering free food and drink.
What to Eat
If you'd like to pre-purchase food before the event, Central Market is offering Picnic Packs filled with items like artisan cheese, salads or deli meats. If that option doesn't work for you, there will be a variety of food trucks along with those mentioned above, such as Down to Earth and Jenny Lynn's BBQ. The sweet treats will be provided by Alchemy Pops, Gypsy Scoops, and Beignet Bus. Both cash and credit will be accepted for onsite food and drinks.
What Else
Leave your dogs at home. This event is not pet friendly.
