A local art gallery plans to close its doors in May.
Artisans' Haven at Vagabond Treasures will close after its run at Mayfest, owner Paul Haberman told Fort Worth Magazine in a phone interview. He cited fewer customers as a reason for the closure.
Artisans' Haven opened in 2015 as both a shop and an art gallery to showcase and sell the work of local artists. The shop has been a multi-year winner of Fort Worth Magazine's Best of Fort Worth contest, most recently recognized as Editors' Pick for Best Artwork in the Shopping category this year.
He said the deadline for artists to pick up their works is May 15. After that date, the shop will close.
"We all had fun ... I met a lot of good people being open," he said.
As for Haberman, he plans to continue his day jobs as a fire inspector and wedding officiant.
"It's no big deal," he said. "We shut down, cut our losses, then go try something else."
