Doc's Record and Vintage can finally celebrate its move.
The vinyl shop will be hosting a grand opening event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with music, beer, 20 percent off all used-merchandise (not including items in the booths) and more. Musicians expected at the event are Oil Boom, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, FOGG, Elise Amara, Ashes and Cosmic Creeps. The first band will perform at noon.
The record store recently made its move from Camp Bowie Boulevard to 2632 Weisenberger St., located in The Foundry District, next to the upcoming Meyer and Sage culinary studio. True to the development, which is known for its murals and art installations, a Jimi Hendrix-esque character riding a dolphin is painted on the outside of the shop.
This new and larger location also allows local vendors to come in and sell clothing and antique mall items.
Saturday also happens to be Record Store Day, but Doc's Records and Vintage will not have any specific record store releases for the public.
