1. Dan Lam: Coquette
Fort Works Arts invites you to the opening reception of artist Dan Lam's first large-scale solo exhibit. Alongside her vibrant, textured, eye-catching works, Lam's “drippy” sculptures, that she has become known for, will be placed throughout the gallery. While you celebrate Lam's works, food trucks and beverages will be available, along with live music performed by Ronnie Heart. The exhibit will run until mid-September.

3. 4th Annual Heroes for Hope 5k
The Heroes for Hope 5k is back again. Along with the 5K Walk or Run, there will be a free 1K Fun Run for children under the age of 12, free root beer, craft brews, BBQ, fruit, even free massages. There will also be a Superhero costume contest for both adults and children to participate, team contests, a kid zone, and a vendors village. So make sure you register, grab your tennis shoes, and head out to Panther Island this weekend to do what you can for the little ones who suffer.

4. Most Excellent Fest
A one day music festival that is also a… house party? That's right, this Fort Worth festival takes place at an actual Fort Worth home. Entry is free, but with a $10 donation you have access to unlimited craft brews that will be onsite such as Martin House, Lakewood Brewing, Chimera Brewing and Four Corners Brewing. Snack on free pizza, water, and icy pops all day. MOEX hopes that attendees will be smart, drink safe, and please think about using Über or Lyft to and from the event.

5. Watermelon Run 2016
Another 5K is upon us this weekend, but this one has a special twist. After a walk or run 5K, there will also be a one-mile relay that involves watermelons.

6. Anime at the Modern Premiere
Beginning this Saturday, the Magnolia at the Modern will be featuring specially selected Anime films. The first series of films will include The Boy and The Beast and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, both by Mamoru Hosoda. The films were chosen with assistance from University of Texas at Dallas professor and scientist, Dr. Marc Hairston. If you have never watched an Anime movie, now would be an excellent time to give it a try, and change your life a little. Tickets range from $6 to $9 and may be purchased in advance.

7. Wine Painting Class at Max's Wine Dive
It's time for a little painting, and a lot of wine over at Max's Wine Dive. Attendees will learn to paint wine glasses to take home while enjoying bites by Executive Chef Victor Villarreal.
