Whether it be celebrating May or Cinco de Mayo, here are our top event picks for the weekend.
Free Admission at Mayfest, 3:30 p.m.-9 p.m.
Mayfest is this weekend and is offering free admission Thursday for all visitors as a way to say “thank you” for the past 46 years of the event. Mayfest encompasses 33 acres along the Trinity River at Trinity Park and offers live music at three different stages, festival food, carnival rides, bounce houses, a petting zoo, paddle boats, rock climbing, and an art and gift market.
Holocron's First Annual Star Wars Day, 4 p.m.-10 p.m.
The Star Wars toy store on West Vickery Boulevard, Holocron, will celebrate “May the Fourth Be With You” with live music by Dead Words, art by Mimms Monkey Room Studio and drinks from Wild Acre Brewing. The only cost for admission — two cans of food for the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Painting With Coffee, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Artist Brie Milam will be at Sons of Liberty Coffee on Saturday and Sunday to showcase her new series, Painting With Coffee — works painted with actual coffee from Sons of Liberty. Prints will be on sale as well.
Cinco de Mayo at The Yard, 2 p.m.
In honor of Cinco de Mayo, The Yard will have a mariachi band, piñatas, face painting, tamales and, of course, a special margarita menu. Partygoers also have the opportunity enter to win a free trip to Mexico.
CINCO on South Main, 3 p.m.-11 p.m.
Blackhouse and Taco Heads are teaming up at 115 South Main St. for a Cinco de Mayo party with DJs like Ronnie Heart and Roboogie, along with other musical acts like Squeeze Box Bandits and the mariachi band from Paschal High School.
Wine Down on the Trail, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
Wine down and take a bus tour to visit local wineries outside of Fort Worth. The tour will depart from T&P Station and visit Bull Lion Ranch & Vineyard and Barking Rock Winery. You can BYOB on the bus as long as there is no glass. The cost is $59 for the bus tour and two wine tastings.
