It’s only the best day of the year.
At least that’s what Leslie Knope says about Galentine’s Day — a holiday for “ladies celebrating ladies,” made popular by the NBC comedy “Parks and Recreation.”
The show ended in 2015, but that hasn’t stopped it from maintaining a cult following, especially in Fort Worth, where a few Galentine’s celebrations will be taking place.
Galentine’s Day is technically Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day, but some Fort Worth spots are celebrating a few days early or throughout the week.
When: Feb. 10-13
Where: 2421 W. 7th St., Ste. 109
Since Galentine’s is all about friendship, MAX’s Wine Dive will offer shareable plates. The special menu features blackened shrimp with crawfish risotto, caramelized lemon butter sauce and crispy basil, as well as hanging tender steak served with cauliflower purée, roasted rainbow carrots, blackberry demi and a fried sweet potato bundle. Finish with a Nutella tiramisu or red velvet cheesecake. A limited-edition set of wines will also be available through Feb. 17; choose from a flight of rosés or reds.
When: Feb. 10, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: 411 South Main St., Ste. 121
Newly open at The 4 Eleven on South Main Street is Winton and Waits, an accessories and home goods shop that will celebrate Galentine’s Day with in-store chair massages, mimosas and a pop-up bar by 4 Eleven neighbor Alchemy Pops.
When: Feb. 10, 7-9 p.m.
Where: 5521 South Hulen St.
Painting With a Twist’s Hulen location will host an adults-only Galentine’s event. The two-hour painting class is BYOB, and a reservation is required.
When: Feb. 13
Where: 801 W. Magnolia Ave.
BREWED will take Galentine’s Day out to the patio with a s’mores bar at the firepits. Wine is $5.
When: Feb. 13, 6:30 p.m.
Where: 1621 River Run, Ste. 116
After Pax & Parker closes to the public at 6 p.m., the WestBend clothing boutique will host a private shopping event and floral arrangement class with Alice’s Table. Reservations can be made here.
When: Feb. 13, 6-8 p.m.
Where: 1604 S. University Drive, Ste. 502
Madewell’s University Park Village location will offer snacks and Valentine’s crafts, and every purchase comes with a free bandana.
