There is a lot of pressure put on Feb. 14 to make it the most romantic day of the year. But when going to dinner is the date night norm, Valentine's Day can feel like just another date — but pricier. So let's think outside the box this year with these untraditional date night ideas around Fort Worth.
GDT Art Studio & Gallery
3007 Race St.
Artist Laura Bacigalupo is hosting an abstract painting workshop Valentine's Day at GDT Art Studio from 7-9 p.m. Ticket prices are $50 per person and will include all materials (although GDT suggests you bring your own apron or smock) and light hors d'oeuvres. The event is BYOB.
Sur La Table
3400 Bryant Irvin Road, Ste.120
Work side by side with your partner to whip up a romantic dinner at one of Sur La Table's Valentine's Day cooking classes. Three different classes are offered throughout the day — including one on chocolate.
Coyote Drive-In
223 N.E. 4th St.
The drive-in movie theater is showing a $4, double feature of “The Notebook” showing at 7:25 p.m. and “You've Got Mail” at 9:55 p.m.
B&B Butchers and Restaurant
5212 Marathon Ave.
Provided you give 24 hours notice, The Shops at Clearfork newcomer B&B Butchers is offering a Valentine's Day takeout prix fixe dinner. Choose two appetizers, two desserts and one entree, with all three sides included, for $130 plus tax, and dine wherever you'd like — whether it be a picnic by the Trinity River or in the comfort of your own home.
Panther Island Brewing
501 N. Main St.
Forget flowers and chocolate; go for beer and tacos. Mexican food truck The 39 Stand is teaming up with Panther Island Brewing for a Valentine's Day event at the brewery. Tickets are $15 for an individual or $25 for two. With the purchase of a ticket, guests will receive two free tacos and two free pints. In honor of Valentine's, Panther Island is bringing back Sweet Fang and Cannonball with Love. The event is from 5-9 p.m.
Waterside Kissing Booth
The Grove at Waterside, Arborlawn Drive and Bryant Irvin Road
Support the Humane Society of North Texas and get a kiss while doing so at Waterside's Kissing Booth. Whether it's with your furry friend or significant other, Waterside will donate $1 to the Humane Society of North Texas for each photo taken at the kissing booth that gets posted on social media with the hashtag #watersidefw. The kissing booth is located at the pavilion in The Grove. Afterward, enjoy a romantic walk along the Trinity River.
