I feel no matter where you stand, if you have had an abortion or not, there are lots of options. This event is healing and open to all.
It is estimated that more than 54 million children have been aborted since the Supreme Court issued its decision. These numbers are simply tragic.
One of the most effective strategies for alternatives has been the advent of pregnancy resource centers (PRCs). The work of these centers cannot be underestimated. Tarrant County is blessed to have almost a dozen Christ-centered PRCs. By offering sonograms and other forms of prenatal care, PRCs provide abortion-minded moms an education, hope and love.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that in 1980 there were 359 abortions per 1,000 live births. In 2009, the abortion ratio was 227 abortions per 1,000 live births. This represents a 37-percent decrease in the number of abortions each year.
To raise awareness and funds for this important cause, four local churches (121 Community Church, Christ Chapel Bible Church, McKinney Church and Pantego Bible Church) are hosting the Choose Life 5K, a run/walk supporting PRCs in the Tarrant County area who provide hope for moms and babies in unplanned pregnancies.
This chip-timed USATF-certified race will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Trinity Park in Fort Worth, Texas. In its inaugural year of 2014, nearly 2,200 runners and more than 200 volunteers participated in the Choose Life 5K, raising $245,000 in net proceeds. This year's goal is to double that!
Entertainment for the whole family will include bounce houses and obstacle courses for all ages. Face painting and a balloon artist will put smiles on lots of faces. There will even be a trackless train for the youngest to enjoy. Plus, this event will feed you!
