Fort Worth Can Academies is celebrating their Annual Caring for Kids Luncheon at River Crest Country Club. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit the students of this school who often require support with uniforms, medical expenses, meals, and transportation.
Diane Stow Ayers, one of Fort Worth's finest women, will be celebrated at this luncheon this for her tireless dedication and outstanding achievements to community, family, education. She has been the associate publisher for Fort Worth, Texas magazine since 1988, and through her work at the magazine’s print and digital platforms, she has sponsored more than 100 charity events each year...which is something I can't even wrap my brain around!
Ayers’ motivation for community service comes from her belief that “volunteering is at the very core of being a human. No one made it through life without someone else’s help.” This philosophy moved her to chair and serve on committees for several organizations including Fort Worth Can Academy, Mayfest, Legacy of Women, Joy of Life, Wish with Wings, Putting on the Pink, Leukemia Texas, Kinderfrogs, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters Big Taste of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Can Academies offers two tuition-free, public, dropout recovery high schools for students in grades nine through twelve. These schools provide an opportunity for students to receive a strong educational foundation in order to graduate thinkers who will break the cycle of intergenerational poverty and illiteracy. More than 130,000 students have been given the opportunity to pursue education through Texas Can Academies.
