Several weeks ago I attended the Kappa Tablescapes by Candlelight event in Dallas, where my dear friend Shannon King of Hope Hill Design debuted her fabulous and creative talent. I was so enthralled by the whole evening, I couldn't resist hiring her to design our Thanksgiving table for the few events we were hosting.
This Thanksgiving table was designed around the Woodland Spode dinnerware collection and its pattern is rooted in the tradition of hunting for game and framed by the British Flower border which dates back to 1831.
Bird, Hunting Dogs and Deer collections from Spode compliment the large collection of Mercury glass vases and urns.
Shannon used basic silver/pewter chargers, Reed & Barton sterling ware with antler knives, Baccarat crystal and simple while linen napkins…all from my personal collection.
Low crystal vase bowls and tall crystal candelabras, including exotic game feathers, bring depth and height to the table.
Over 70 stems of Hydrangea and 100 Tibet, Eskimo and Vendella white roses were used on this tablescape as well as several bunches of Oriental and Calla Lilies, Ranuculus, Dendrobium Orchids, Snap Dragons, with green Amaranthus and Magnolia leaves.
Faux brown pears, hand stained natural antler sheds and several silver pheasants dressed with fresh hanging Amaranthus scarves brings an organic hunting lodge feel to the table.
Below are a few samples of Shannon King's exceptional floral talents.
"I love the unexpected in designing fresh cuts. I add elements others may not think to use. If I think something is beautiful or interesting I figure out a way to incorporate it." - Shannon King
The next 2 pictures are the scaled down version of what she created for my Thanksgiving table. Same concept, just a smaller look. Notice the burlap tablecloth and personalized monogrammed napkins? LOVE!
I adored the way she placed the fork and knife crisscrossed with a bow. Beautiful details that were hard to miss.
One of the elements I love about Shannon's work is her signature look, a hand painted antler shed comes with every delivered floral arrangement. Here is a beautiful cut floral design in a gold ice bucket.
Another look, but this one is in a champagne bucket. I would LOVE to have this gift show up at my door! Dreamy!
And who can resist all of this luscious colorful produce and antique hydrangea. This install takes the cake with all of sterling silver containers.
