Fall/Spring/Summer Advertising Sales Internship Program

Fort Worth, Texas magazine's objective is to challenge our readers with in-depth reporting and analysis of issues, with an underlying mission of discovering what is unique about Fort Worth and its people. We strive to enlighten, inform and entertain our readers with a passion for excellence as demonstrated with quality writing, superior graphics, printing and photography. This objective and mission for our readers is largely funded through our advertising efforts by local small to medium business within the Fort Worth business community.

I. Program Overview

The internship program is intended for those looking to gain a working knowledge of the magazine advertising industry. Interns work a minimum of 12 hours per week in the office and may receive college credit. All internships are unpaid and take place in a three-month period during the spring, summer, fall and winter.

Interns will gain hands-on sales and sales planning experience while working alongside people with years of industry knowledge and skill, as well as make connections that can help in future endeavors. Letters of recommendation will be provided upon completion of the program.

Internship Focus: Lead Generation - Strategy, Research & Modeling

II. Overview of Intern Duties

The duties include the performance under supervision of such tasks as:

Competitive Sales Lead Propensity Modeling

  • Creating, researching and generate competitive lead analysis within the local Fort Worth advertising market.
  • Designing a competitive advertising lead propensity model that will be executed on by the internal sales team.
  • Monitor and track all competitive advertising sales lead conversions generated from within the project by the sales team to monitor efficiencies and performance modeling.
  • Participate and contribute in weekly sales staff meetings
  • Observe live sales calls being conducted within the Account Executive channel and our client base.
  • Meet weekly with the Director of sales to review your progress, analysis and your personal insight within the competitive lead generation project. The Director will provide professional guidance related to your analysis including statistical revenue forecasting as well as how to design a sales performance culture that produces top end sales results through the results of the intern’s efforts.

Advertising Agency Partnership Strategy

  • Analyze advertising sales metrics by adverting agencies within DFW who represent clients that invest in adverting campaigns with the Fort Worth Texas magazine in both print and online.
  • Provide a recommendation of revenue opportunities for the magazine, by individual agencies, based on the initial direction of the Sales Director.
  • Measure the ongoing sales metric results based on your approved recommendation by agency to validate the effectiveness of the revenue growth trends by agency

Events

  • Assist with events sponsored by the magazine

Competitive Media Research

  • Creating, researching and generate competitive analysis within the local Fort Worth advertising market utilizing Media Audit research. Monitor and track all advertising sales generated from within the project to evaluate the effectiveness of the audited research.
  • Participate and contribute in sales staff meetings.
  • Observe live sales call(s) being conducted within the Account Executive channel and our client base.
  • Meet with the Director of Sales to review your progress, analysis and your personal insight within the competitive research audit. The Director will provide professional guidance related to your analysis including statistical revenue forecasting as well as how to design a sales performance culture that produces top end sales results through the results of the intern’s efforts.

Key Client Awards Distribution

  • Support the collection and mailing of award plaques to our client base such as Top Attorneys, Top Doctors, and others.

Help With Company Events

  • Throughout the year, we host several significant events such as Top Chef, Best of Fort Worth Party, Dream Home VIP Party, Top Attorneys, Best Companies to Work for in Fort Worth and many more. We will need your help with basic set up and breakdown efforts.

All sales internships will also include duties pertaining to events sponsored by the magazine.
