What does beauty mean to you:
Although one's outward appearance is an important part to beauty, it is how one carries themselves in their everyday life that truly makes them beautiful. It is the confidence one has when they walk into a room, how they communicate with others and how they live their lives.
Who is your beauty/style icon?
Minus the high heels I wear every day, Audrey Hepburn is my beauty icon. She is timeless. Her elegance, poise, and grace in everything she does it what I admire. She is simple yet classic. Always wear something that fits and looks good on you and avoid following trends.
Who is your female role model, and why?
For me, my role model is not a female. It has, and will always be my father. As a graduate of Texas A&M University, this is something that I share with my father. He has shown me work ethic, compassion for others, to always see the good in people, and to be thankful to the Lord for everything He has given me. My father is truly the most selfless person I know and I hope to instill those values in the lives I touch every day and in my children's lives.
What are your hobbies?
When I am not working, my favorite hobby is snow skiing. I love the natural beauty of the mountains, the fresh air and of course the exercise when I am skiing moguls. Another hobby is wine collecting. I love to enjoy and share it with friends as wine is something that brings people together and always gives us something to talk about. I also love trying new restaurants, which is easy to do in Fort Worth.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
When I was younger, I learned to be a ventriloquist. I had the honor of being Miss Teen Texas America when I was in high school and I used my ventriloquism to volunteer by performing shows around the state with my St Bernard puppet, Wilbur. I used to perform shows at Cook Children's Hospital in the atrium for the patients, which feels very surreal now as I am a physician there.
Why did you chose Fort Worth?
I was very fortunate to have been born and raised in Fort Worth. I did my medical residency and fellowship training out of state, but knew I would always return to Texas. It was an easy decision to come home to Fort Worth. From a career perspective, it has the best children's hospital in the state with a first class neurosciences department. My family and friends still live here and it is a wonderful place to raise a family.
What is your favorite thing about Fort Worth?
No matter how big the city gets, and it is getting bigger overnight, at the end of the day, Fort Worth still has its southern hospitality hometown feeling. Fort Worth continues to embrace its history and culture despite how metropolitan it has become. Fort Worth is where I can walk in my front yard and see children playing and running around, where everyone knows everyone, and where your neighbor becomes your family.
What do you consider your best feature or characteristic? (physical or non-physical)
My best characteristic is my motivation. My friends would call it my “inner drive.” I give everything I do a 110 percent effort and I finish everything I start.
