Get to Know Tara:
Occupation:
3rd Grade Teacher at Peaster Elementary. (I also sell real estate, am a fitness coach, a mom to a two year old little boy and a wife of a man I've loved for twelve years! I wear many hats!)
What does beauty mean to you?
“Pretty is as pretty does.” My mother use to say this on repeat growing up. She made sure she raised all three of her girls to be consistent with being a good person on the inside because that would show through to the outside as well. Beauty is how you treat others, no matter if you can benefit from them or not. The point is to shine so that other's will see your light and benefit from YOU.
Who is your beauty/style icon?
I look for beauty everywhere, not just in one person.
Who is your female role model, and why?
So cliche, but my mom of course. I think it is so important to not be so easily swayed. One should be careful who they look up to and who they let influence their lives, in all aspects. While I have wonderful friends, no one can replace my first role model. My mother is a beautiful, strong, compassionate, self motivated go getter type of women. She KNOWS who she is as a person and I would be a fool not to listen to all the wisdom she has gathered in her life.
What are your hobbies?
I LOVE all things fashion and beauty related! I am a girly girl at heart and that's why I started a fashion blog called Shoes and Chardonnay! My friend Sarah and I are always trying new products or new boutiques and following up with a review. But just because I'm so girly doesn't mean I don't like getting my hands dirty! I also enjoy hunting with my husband as well as riding dirt bikes! Balance is key for everything, right?
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
I never wanted children. Yep. My husband and I both didn't want kids. We just agreed and left it at that. But for some reason we began talking about it over a two year course and decided to go for it. One month later, I was pregnant with Race Kingston. I cannot, and I truly mean CANNOT, imagine my life without this vibrant little boy! He gives me a run for my money, but it is more than worth it. God had a plan for us for sure!
Why did you choose Fort Worth?
There are two reasons why I chose Fort Worth. First was my husband…we have been together since I was eighteen and he is from Fort Worth, so I moved over this way. And although I started out going to a junior college, I knew I was going to transfer to TCU (second reason I picked FW) so it was perfect to move over here! Been here ever since (12 years!)
What is your favorite thing about Fort Worth?
Fort Worth knows how to keep things fun and interesting by creating lots of things to do within the city. It supports its small businesses which is incredible and gives a sense of ownership to those that live here. We take care of each other for sure! It feels like a small town even though it's gotten so big!
What do you consider your best feature or characteristic? (physical or non-physical)
Beauty definitely comes from within. I think that the best avenue to show someone your true beauty is your smile. If you are genuine and care about people you show it by simply just smiling. My smile is imperfect. I have thought about getting braces to straighten things up a bit and make it close to perfect, but honestly, I think its imperfections make it that much more appealing. I am that crazy lady that smiles at everyone she meets (and when I'm not smiling it's only because I'm lost in my own thoughts! ;)) I think my love for life and Jesus is showed through my smile and that is what matters most to me.
