What to Do This Weekend in Fort Worth
Wondering where to take Mom for Mother's Day weekend? Here are our picks.
Friday, May 11
This is a sad one — popular Fort Worth band Oil Boom is calling it quits and playing their last show at Friday on the Green. The band will play a special double-set to make sure everyone's favorites get heard. Deep Sleepers and Mean Motor Scooter are the opening acts.
May 11 is National Public Gardens Day, and to celebrate, the Fort Worth Botanic Garden and Botanical Research Institute of Texas are inviting the public to have lunch at the garden. Guests can either bring their own lunch or purchase from one of the food trucks on-site. Acoustic guitarist Victor Andrada will provide the music, while the garden's senior horticulturist Steve Huddleston will lead a free, guided walking tour from 12:30-1 p.m.
Saturday, May 12
Culinary studio Meyer & Sage will be at Shop Small Fort Worth to teach mothers and daugthers (or mothers and sons) how to put together cheese and charcuterie grazing boards using seasonal spring produce and homemade accents. Tickets are $200.
Hear Romanian pianist and 2017 Van Cliburn competitor Alina Bercu at The Shops at Clearfork. The concert will take place outdoors on the plaza.
The Fairmount Tour of Historic Homes is back for its 36th year and will take guests through some of the neighborhood's Craftsman bungalows, Prairie-style four squares and Victorian houses. And, for the first time, an electric bike tour hosted by Pedego Electric Bikes is part of the event. Find more information here.
Head to The Tin Panther to enjoy food and drinks and browse local vendors selling handmade goods. Local rock band Dead Vinyl will also make an appearance.
Indigo Yoga is celebrating its 12th birthday — with puppies. Participants are welcome to bring their pups during their yoga session. Water for pets will be provided.
Sunday, May 13
Take your mom to Americado for a paint class hosted by Randi Frances Art. Tickets are $25 per painter and come with a 16-by-24 canvas — and if you buy six, you get one free.
